finding a cushion.

Chris and I have a saying,
"If something sits in a place for long enough we ask each other who wants to get a cushion" This is a fun way of looking at life, if we leave something and don't put it away how it becomes part of the furniture and you don't even notice it.
Having a place for everything in our homes is so important. If things don't have a home it is easy to just leave them out and think i'll get to that latter, or shove it somewhere, but if it has no home and there is no where to put it is it not telling you something else.
Now when I buy something, it has to be something that I know that I will use.I have a place to put it. It has a home to go to.
This can be a great stop while we are shopping, stop and ask yourself do I have a place to put it, will I use it or will it become another thing that sits in the cupboard. Last year I bought a garlic crusher, it looked amazing but I have used it once. I love to cut my garlic up with a knife, I knew at the time that I wouldn't use it but I got caught in the fact that it looked like a really good idea and maybe I would use it, maybe never came.
This is now an awareness that I have in me, I can stop and feel will I really use this or is it just another thing to have in my cupboard.

Recently while  emptying the dishwasher and  putting things away I noticed that there were a few things that needed to be cleaned, around the handles of the cupboards, some of the shelves  needed to be wiped just a few little things.
I could feel how for a second I went  into overwhelm, in a panic I started to think that I needed to do a lot.
Instead I just stopped.
I felt how these things were reflecting to me a grander picture of life in full. Life is continually unfolding back to us, always presenting something for us to look at, maybe seeing it in a different way.

These little stops are internal signposts to say something needs to be looked at, my body lets me know what is on the list next. It might be that I notice that the skirting boards need cleaning as i'm vacuuming, it might mean that I can do them now, depending on time or I will book them in for next time. This is my natural cleaning roster,  everything in my house has its turn, therefore its like a continual spring cleaning of the house and nothing every gets left behind and everything is done regularly. I continually get delivered a little reminder note of what is needed to be done next. This way I never feel that overwhelm feeling like everything needs to be cleaned and now. If I stop and listen to my body then things slot into there place and everything just flows.
Having a routine for the weekly things is the same, it can be as simple as sheets Monday plus a load of colours, Tuesday towels and whites, Wednesday kids sheets and colours. By working with routines it illuminates head chatter and you just get up and get going.
I like to clean the shower when i'm washing my hair, while I leave the conditioner in I"m wiping the shower, so simple and easy. When we clean  up after dinner, my husband washes the things not in the dishwasher as i'm wiping the benches, wiping things that go back into the fridge, there is a real flow in what we are doing and you get to see how you work together as a team, enjoying each others company while cleaning the house.
When we connect to our bodies and do something when it feels right it will never be a fight to get something done , it will just flow into its space and you will feel absolute joy when you are cleaning your home.
I love cleaning, scrubbing my pots and pans. I love the feel of the house when I have cleaned my floors. When we love what we're doing then there is a completely different energy left behind. It sparkles and we get to walk in that love.
